This rod excels in skip casting situations, where the lure is literally skipped along the surface like a flat stone to reach deep in behind overhanging trees and branches. Rod length is critical: too short and the angle of the cast into the water can result in the lure digging in; too long and the rod tip will flick the surface of the water, ruining the cast.
As well as skip casting, this rod is extremely accurate, allowing lures to be placed precisely between mangrove trees and branches of snags.
Once hooked, these fish can need some dragging out, and the Skip-H has the power to do it. The secret lies in the unique action that is the perfect combination of casting finesse and fish extraction! And not just barra - 'Jacks, 'toga in fact any big species that likes to snag dwell.

The reel seat height is short enough to allow for plenty of rod manoeuvring while getting creative with casting angles, yet long enough to lock under the forearm for leverage when stopping a fish in the sticks.
