Product Description
MONSTER BLANK
Thanks to the DBL Structure, this rod blank delivers exceptional heavy-load durability, capable of withstanding the maximum drag from a large reel, even at a steep 65-degree angle. Its core flexibility allows the rod to bend effectively under realistic human strength, generating powerful recoil as it flexes. Even during intense battles with monster tuna, the rod blank remains strong, assisting anglers by lifting the fish while enduring the strain.
With a length of 7'7", it optimizes both casting performance and lure control, while still maintaining the power needed for the toughest fights. This flexible rod blank can easily handle lightweight lures, casting them accurately to the desired spot with precision.
In the world of tuna casting, it offers a distinct advantage, making it a true game-changer. To take on monster tuna that surpass human limits, this rod blank is one you can absolutely rely on.
Guide Setting
We’ve designed our guides specifically for use with ultra-large tackle, such as reels over size 20,000 and PE lines with a PE rating of 12. Additionally, the Assist Guide plays a crucial role in minimizing line tangling at the tip, preventing line issues and ensuring smooth line release for stable, long-distance casting.
With this setup, you can be confident that you won’t miss your big opportunity.
Hexagon Rubber Grip (PAT.P)
For ultimate big-game reliability, we’ve created an entirely new heavy-fighting grip by incorporating rubber material into our trusted Hexagon Grip (PAT.P). This innovative design offers the best slip resistance we've ever achieved.
The molded surface, inspired by Japanese-style tortoiseshell, enhances grip strength and reduces fatigue during intense battles.
This cutting-edge grip from ZENAQ is essential for enduring long, power-packed fights with monster tuna.
Metal Reel Seat
When battling a monster catch exceeding 200kg, the stress placed on the reel seat is immense. Our robust metal reel seat is designed with one goal in mind—ensuring absolute reliability, allowing you to focus all your energy on the fight.
Additionally, the rubber cushion sheet enhances reel fixation, reducing stress for the angler during both the fight and repeated casting.
Note: The rubber cushion may peel off after extended use, but even if it does, it won’t affect the functionality of the reel seat.
Metal Gimbal + Rubber End
For the rod’s grip end, we’ve incorporated a combination of a metal gimbal and a rubber end. If you prefer not to use a gimbal when facing a monster, simply use the rubber end. For a more traditional gimbal fight, remove the rubber end and switch to the metal gimbal.
This dual design allows you to choose the best grip style for your fighting technique.
Note: If moisture gets between the metal gimbal and rubber end during rainy conditions, the rubber end may come loose. To prevent this, we recommend using our Reel Stop Rubber or tape to block water from seeping in, ensuring a secure fit during casting.
Creating the Ultimate Monster Rod Blank
The key feature we focused on during the development of this rod was its ability to lift a 200kg fish, even when bent at a deep angle.
If the rod blank is too rigid, it becomes difficult for anglers to endure the intense struggle of fighting a monster fish. Additionally, a stiff rod blank wouldn't allow for casting a 100g lure effectively.
On the other hand, a rod blank that’s too flexible wouldn’t be able to lift a 200kg monster and would likely snap under such heavy pressure.
So, how do we resolve these conflicting requirements? How can we design a rod that casts a 100g lure with distance while still enabling an average-sized angler to battle a 200kg monster tuna?
This was the greatest challenge of Project Monster Buster.
Our journey to create the perfect rod blank involved countless cycles of design, bench testing, and field trials, culminating in a breakthrough after four years of testing, starting in 2019.
The result? The innovative rod blank that forms the backbone of the Tobizo TC77 TUNA - Monster Buster.
What is DBL Structure (Deep Bias Layered Construction) - PAT.P
The process of creating rod blanks involves many factors, such as the elasticity of the carbon material, thickness, resin content, fiber angle, and the taper design of the mandrel (mold). With so many variables at play, the possibilities for designing rod blanks are virtually limitless.
Within this vast range of combinations, we search for the optimal material, layering it deeply and carefully arranging the fiber orientations to achieve the perfect configuration.
Our approach to designing the rod blank is fundamentally different from the lightweight, finesse-oriented rods typically seen. It’s more akin to crafting the physique of a well-trained heavyweight athlete. This manufacturing method enabled us to precisely design the torque and power necessary to meet the requirements for recoil, durability, and flexibility, which are essential for our monster rod blank.
In developing the Monster Rod, it wasn’t just advanced rod-making technology that was crucial—it was also the patience and dedication to finding the perfect combination of complex carbon materials from an infinite array of options.
An Incredible 40-Minute Battle In just 40 minutes, a lone angler managed to reel in a 213kg monster tuna. This remarkable achievement highlighted the exceptional performance of our monster blank, crafted for the challenging task of bending under huge pressure and lifting such massive monster tuna.
