Daiwa 26 Saltist Hyper Rods

The Daiwa 26 Saltist Hyper range brings together 19 spin and overhead options for Australian saltwater fishing. HVF Nanoplus blanks and X45 construction underpin a range that includes short jigging rods, lure-casting options, overhead bait rods and longer rock-fishing models.

Start with your fishing technique, then narrow the choice by reel type, line rating and lure or jig weight. A rod for dropping a jig below the boat is not interchangeable with a longer casting rod, even when their PE ratings overlap.

Spin jigging models

• S56-3/4 Jig Spin: A one-piece 5ft6in option rated PE3–4 with a maximum jig weight of 200g. Ideal for jigging for Kingfish, Amberjack, Samson Fish and Snapper.

• S56-5/6 Heavy Jig Spin: The same 5ft6in length with PE5–6 and a 300g maximum. Perfect for targeting larger Kingfish, Amberjack, Dogtooth Tuna and other powerful reef species.

Species recommendations are general guides based on each rod's length, PE rating and intended fishing application. The most suitable model will also depend on lure or jig weight, fishing depth, current and the size of fish being targeted.

Before you choose

Match spin rods with spin reels and overhead rods with overhead reels. Check the complete model code, sections, line rating and weight range rather than assuming shared names mean identical specifications.

The weight column in the specification table covers different techniques. A maximum figure on a jigging or bait model should not automatically be treated as a safe casting weight. Confirm how the rating applies to your intended use, and include hooks and other rigging when assessing total casting weight.
