Typically, achieving a fish-like shimmer in a soft-plastic involves inserting aluminum foil inside the its body. However, this method compromises the softness of the body, an aspect Mr. Fukushima was not willing to sacrifice. Instead, he achieved the desired shimmer by first applying color paint followed by a glossy coating, as shown in the video.
