Product Description
This rod is tuned for fishing small hard-bodied lures and has the perfect length, action and power for longer casting and superior line control if fishing deep or shallow flats using either braid with mono leader or FC lines*.
With a unique action this blank has the ideal amount of tip power to perfectly cast and – more importantly – perfectly retrieve small bladed lures in a variety of lift and hopping actions. The mid-section is softer than usual, which cushions any erratic movement from the fish, effectively protecting the often delicate hook-hold of a small treble.
This action and power also makes the BladeFreak ULS an ideal choice for fishing small hard-bodied lures when extra distance is required such as sigh-casting to ‘mudders’ on the shallow flats, or topwater lures especially stickbait styles for bream and whiting.
It is also an exceptional open-water rod for the lighter Cranka Crab lures.
For all these techniques, the ‘tip-up’ rod retrieve is required and the BladeFreaK ULS has been fine-tuned for a specific balance to ensure this is effortless and enhances sensitivity.
The KR guide train is a composite selection of Fuji’s titanium frames for corrosion resistance in semi-micro sizes. Ceramics are Fuji’s very latest ‘SlimRing’ SiC which gives smooth performance and protects ultra-light lines from wear and tear.
The BladeFreak ULS incorporates Ian’s ‘Control Freak’ style handles, comprising Fuji SKSS reel seat over a blue carbon barrel, and custom-shaped x-firm EVA in the Millerods signature style blue Camoufish pattern, all finished with the ‘M’ logo anti-skid butt cap.
Millerods recommends the use of the FG knot for connecting braided fishing lines to monofilament leaders. All Ian’s lure casting guide trains are selected with this connecting knot in mind.
