Rod Construction and Performance
The blank is constructed from a robust graphite and fibreglass composite, providing strength and durability. This powerful rod is capable of trolling large lures and baits when needed. It is designed to target all types and sizes of gamefish, with marlin as the primary focus for this model.
Rod Length and Functional Advantages
The rod measures 8'0" in length. This generous length enables most lures or baits to be trolled directly from the rod tip, with the extra height assisting in keeping a rigged bait running cleanly, and delivering the ideal popping action when trolling a lure.
This length also allows for quick whipping and flicking of the lure or bait from the water, moving it away from the teased fish. This technique encourages the fish to concentrate on the presented fly, bait, or lure, rather than following the teaser all the way to the transom.
Guide Design
Both the entry and exit guides are specifically sized to accommodate line attachments such as waxed thread and rubber bands, which can be wound back onto the reel without jamming. Importantly, this guide set-up is tangle-free. When actively teasing fish, line may fall onto the rod, but this style of guide train allows the line to slip straight off, so the teasing process can continue without interruption.
Handle and Reel Seat Features
The handle is fitted with an alloy gimbal for secure placement in rod holders during trolling. It also features a durable 'Slick butt' for smooth removal from a rod holder even under pressure. The graphite pipe seat is fitted with a longer locking nut for easy reel attachment and is extended with an alloy part to fit larger reel feet. The fore-grip is made from extra-firm, long EVA in blue Camoufish.
Transport and Rigging
The Marlin Teaser Pole is made in two equal sections, allowing for convenient stowage and transport. It can be left rigged, with a swivel tied on, ready for immediate use whenever needed.
Line and Reel Recommendations
Please ensure that heavy line is used with this rod. It is recommended to use at least 200lb line, whether dacron, braid, or monofilament. Heavier lines are also suitable. Recommended reels are high-speed small game reels, with or without a lever drag.
