Product Description
Shimano 26 Miravel Spin Reel
The Shimano 26 Miravel brings a lightweight CI4+ body and rotor together with Shimano's MagnumLite approach for active lure fishing. With five options from 1000A to C5000XGA, the range covers light estuary outfits through to larger lure-fishing setups.
When you're casting repeatedly, stopping a soft plastic and winding up slack, reel balance matters as much as size. Choose a Miravel to suit your rod, line and lure weight rather than selecting on maximum drag alone.
Choose your Miravel size
- 1000A: The lightest listed model at 170g, with 5.0:1 gearing and 3kg maximum drag. A starting point for light-line fishing with small soft plastics and hardbodies for species such as bream, whiting and trout, matched to a suitable light rod.
- 2500HGA: Listed at 200g with 6.2:1 gearing and 9kg maximum drag. A versatile choice for an estuary lure outfit when you want a step up from the 1000 without moving to the weight of the 4000.
- C3000HGA: Consider this option when comparing a 2500-sized estuary outfit with your required line capacity. Confirm the exact model's capacity and specifications for your chosen line before ordering, particularly if spool capacity is the reason for choosing it over the 2500.
- 4000XGA: Listed at 245g with 6.2:1 gearing and 11kg maximum drag. A starting point for a larger soft-plastic or hardbody outfit for fish such as snapper and school jewfish, where your rod and line call for a larger reel.
- C5000XGA: Listed at 270g with 6.2:1 gearing and 11kg maximum drag. Compare this with the 4000 when planning a heavier lure outfit, checking the exact capacity for your intended line.
What the design brings to your fishing
- CI4+ body and rotor: A lightweight foundation for an outfit you will cast and work throughout a session.
- G Free Body: Positions the reel's centre of gravity closer to your hand to support outfit balance.
- INFINITYDRIVE: Designed to reduce winding resistance under load.
- ANTI-TWIST FIN and one-piece bail: Support line management as line returns to the spool.
- HAGANE Gear, X-Ship and SilentDrive: Shimano technologies focused on gear support and refined winding.
- AR-C Spool and CoreProtect: Casting-focused spool design and water-resistance features.
Choosing between sizes
Start with the line and lures you intend to fish, then check how the reel balances on your rod. A lighter outfit can be more comfortable for repeated casting, while a larger reel may better suit your capacity requirements. Check line pickup and capacity for the exact model rather than assuming equal gear ratios mean equal performance.
Maximum drag is a reel specification, not a recommended fishing setting. Set working drag to suit your line, knots and rod. If you're choosing between two sizes, tell us your rod, line and intended fishing and we can help narrow the choice.
