How to choose your leader

• Consider presentation: Lighter leader can suit finer presentations. Match your choice to the lure, target fish and conditions rather than choosing by fish size alone.
• Allow for structure: Consider heavier leader where rough structure and abrasion are concerns, while keeping your rod, mainline, hooks, knots and drag setting in balance.
• Check for damage: Inspect the leader after contact with structure or after landing a fish. Replace sections that feel rough or show nicks.

Check strength and spool length

The Type selector lists both breaking strain and spool length. For example, “25lb x 70m” means 25lb leader on a 70m spool. Spool lengths vary between options, so check both numbers before adding to cart.

• 100m options listed: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 20lb.
• 70m options listed: 25 and 30lb.
• 50m options listed: 40 and 50lb.
• Higher-strength options listed: 60lb x 25m, 70lb x 20m and 80lb x 25m.
