Additional lead can be added to the internal weight cartridge if needed, but the Secret Weapon Burley Bomb also has a hole drilled in the nose so it’s possible to tie on a snapper sinker for additional weight when fishing deep water or an extra strong current. Rig it on a heavy hardline – perhaps with a short length of wire at the business end as sharks have been known to pinch the odd one – and you’re away.
Secret Weapon Burley Bombs are traditionally used offshore, but are equally effective in estuary fishing situations, such as when bait fishing for bream in a strong tidal run. Burley can be chook pellets, chopped pilchards, prawn shells, fish cubes, bread soaked in tuna oil – whatever takes your fancy.
